Vision Transmission is an engaging team-building activity designed to test and improve communication, leadership, and execution skills within an organization. Participants begin by selecting a ‘boss’ who is the only person to receive detailed instructions for creating a specific object using the materials provided. The rest of the team is divided into groups, with each group consisting of managers and front-line executives.

The challenge lies in the flow of information. The boss must communicate the instructions to Level 1 managers, who then pass them down to Level 2 managers, and finally to the front-line executives responsible for constructing the product. Each level adds complexity, as the information is interpreted, relayed, and sometimes altered in transmission. The goal is for all teams to deliver identical products based on the original vision provided by the boss.

Throughout the activity, participants experience firsthand how easily a leader’s vision can become distorted as it moves through an organization. The exercise emphasizes the importance of clear, concise communication at all levels and highlights the role of ownership in achieving organizational goals.
